Getting someone else to collude with you (@jeffingaweschrum ) is another one of your part’s effective distraction strategies 🙃

No, I don’t need coffee, snacks, or to fix the mic issue RIGHT now. Now is for writing.

So much healing comes when we Update our parts and

So much healing comes when we Update our parts and give them a Redo experience- Both begin with Unblending.

Lots of IFS terms! Here’s what I mean-

Unblending- space between me/Self and my part/symptom/trait/experience/thought/feeling/belief

Update- telling my parts how old I am now, showing them what’s happening in my life now, letting them know that there are no longer stuck in the past and in the situation that may have been harmful.

Redo – giving my parts the experience they needed to have back then. They needed to be seen, heard, validated, understood. They needed to be removed from harm. They needed to be hugged and loved and safe.

The minute we unblend, we begin giving our parts a new experience with us. This beautiful healing starts the moment there’s a little bit of space between me and them, and they can see me, my interest, my curiosity.
