So much healing comes when we Update our parts and give them a Redo experience- Both begin with Unblending.

Lots of IFS terms! Here’s what I mean-

Unblending- space between me/Self and my part/symptom/trait/experience/thought/feeling/belief

Update- telling my parts how old I am now, showing them what’s happening in my life now, letting them know that there are no longer stuck in the past and in the situation that may have been harmful.

Redo – giving my parts the experience they needed to have back then. They needed to be seen, heard, validated, understood. They needed to be removed from harm. They needed to be hugged and loved and safe.

The minute we unblend, we begin giving our parts a new experience with us. This beautiful healing starts the moment there’s a little bit of space between me and them, and they can see me, my interest, my curiosity.

I had so much fun at @killingtonmtn with @nasw.vt spreading the good news of @internalfamilysystems ☺️

For so much of the past two days, I kept thinking “what is my life” that I get to do this 🥲

@henrybeckwith and I went on several hikes. We saw waterfalls and sat on a huge boulder with incredible views. We swam outside when it was 27° in a 92° pool under a full moon surrounded by ski slopes and mountains. He carried a box of heavy books, handed out paper, answered IFS questions, and smiled at me and told me I was fantastic. What is my life?

I learned this incredible model 10 years ago, and I get to talk about it all day long. I get to help people have a relationship with their parts. I get to help people unblend and experience their True Selves. I get to have an incredible IFS community of friends. I get to talk to people about it on the podcast. I get to brainstorm ideas with the best co-producer ever. I get to teach people about it and go to fancy places.

To some parts of me this all still doesn’t make any sense. It has changed my life. At times that feels dramatic. It’s just the truth.

What is my life that I get to do this?
