Episode: 98
On today’s episode I chat with Norma Stevens who is an LCPC in private practice in the Baltimore/DC area. She is a Research
Therapist for a Clinical Trial for Psilocybin Assisted Therapy for Depression in Cancer Patients and a Therapist for the MAPS Expanded Access Program for MDMA Assisted Psychotherapy for PTSD at the William Richards Healing Center in the Aquilino Cancer Center in Rockville, MD.
She is a Certified IFS therapist and an Approved IFS Supervisor for Certification. She has worked as a program assistant extensively for Level 1, 2, and 3 IFS trainings and was a presenter at the 2019 IFS Annual Conference.
We talk about:
– Processes and essential steps of this treatment
– What brought her into psychedelic assisted therapy (such a great story!) and her current work at the Healing Center
– Healing potential of psychedelic therapy and what is needed to administer it safely (all the S’s- screening, safety, support)
– IFS and Psychedelics: A powerful combination (self healing exiles)
– Concerns: What about addiction? Don’t psychedelics bypass protectors (and how they do)? What if someone has a history of psychosis? What about “bad” trips?
– Importance of Integration and follow up
Norma calls this Sacred Work, and I loved hearing her story and her passion.
